Utility Assistance Program
Our Utility Assistance program helps families and individuals in Brazoria, Galveston and Harris counties with the payment of electricity, gas and water bills.
Due to the high volume of applications received in 2023, BakerRipley’s Utility Assistance Program is currently only accepting applications for waterbill payment assistance for applications received after March 20th. See below for requirements and how to apply.
Applications received before March 20th will continue to be reviewed for eligibility based on funding availability.
Applications received after March 20th requesting electricity or gas bill payment assistance, will remain on file. If additional funding becomes available these applications will be reviewed in the order they were received.
Water Bill Payment Assistance
The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Be served by one of these participating water vendors: Aqua Texas; City of Angleton; City of Galveston; City of Houston; City of La Marque; City of League City or Harris County WCID Fondren If your water vendor is not in this list, and you live in Harris, Galveston or Brazoria County, reach out to your vendor and encourage them to participate in the program.
Meet the income requirements (click here to see income guidelines)
Provide proof of identity for all household members – current/valid Texas Driver License
Provide proof of Citizenship or legal residency for at least one household member – U.S. Passport, U.S. Birth Certificate, U.S. Permanent Resident Card
Provide proof of income for the past 30 days for all household members 18 years of age and older - such as employer gross wages, Social Security,Unemployment, SNAP, TANF, Child Support, Adoption Subsidies, Food Stamp Award Letter, Retirement, V.A. Disability, etc.
Provide a copy of current water bill.
