Every year, BakerRipley has exciting opportunities for small businesses across the Greater Houston area to access capital in the form of cash or in-kind prizes.
Spanish Competition
Lanzate Houston!
Each fall, BakerRipley partners with the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity to host Lanzate Houston! This event is the first and only of its kind in Houston to be held entirely in Spanish. Entrepreneurs pitch their business to a panel of expert judges in one of two categories: product or service. Contestants are paired with a business coach to work on their pitch and participate in a series of workshops to help them prepare for the competition.
Entrepreneurs in a wide range of industries from all over Houston participate in the competition each year. Winners in each category are awarded first, second and third prizes of $4,000, $3,000, and $2,000 as well as a āfan favoriteā prize of $1,000. Participants can also win in-kind prizes such as chamber memberships, technology and more.
English Competition
Kauffman FastTrac Pitch Competition
In 2022, BakerRipley added a second pitch competition in English. This competition is open to anyone who is currently enrolled and has completed their coursework for the Kauffman FastTrac class. The Kauffman FastTrac Pitch Competition, takes place in the summer after the Kauffman FastTrac class is completed. First, second, and third prizes of $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000 are awarded as well as a āfan favoriteā prize of $1,000.Ā
