Built in 2017, the East Aldine campus is located in East Aldine Town Square.

In East Aldine, the BakerRipley Community Center caters to the area’s strong creative and entrepreneurial focus, with training and support for aspiring entrepreneurs, a full commercial kitchen for those looking to work in the food industry, and Houston’s first Fab Lab offering training and access to digital fabrication tools. Adult education classes, a monthly farmer’s market, and tax services are just a few of the other opportunities available at this location.

Programs & Services

The BakerRipley East Aldine Community Center offers many programs and services. If you would like to discover and get connected with the programs and services that can benefit you, there is a Community Resource Specialist onsite for your convenience every day at East Aldine. Our offerings include:

BakerRipley’s Civic Engagement program has an array of services helping Neighbors learn how to become a:

  • confident and well-informed voter through the Voter Engagement program
  • powerful community member and agent of change through the Civic Education program
  • trained leader or “Community Engineer” through the Leadership Training & Development program

Entrepreneur Connection at BakerRipley provides education, resources, and access to capital for anyone who is an aspiring entrepreneur or has an existing business. The program offers classes, business coaching, networking events, and a host of other services to help small businesses launch, grow, and thrive.

BakerRipley’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program offers more than just language learning. It equips you with the necessary knowledge and abilities to thrive in the United States and make meaningful contributions to your community. The program caters to learners of all levels of English proficiency, from beginners to advanced.

BakerRipley offers GED Classes that serve as a High School Equivalency (HSE) program, providing educational assistance to Neighbors without a high school diploma. These classes are open to everyone, free of charge. Our GED classes cover a range of subjects including reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies, to help prepare individuals to pass the GED test and achieve their educational goals.

BakerRipley’s Neighborhood Tax Centers operate the largest local IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program that helps taxpayers maximize their refunds by offering FREE, quality tax preparation services for individuals and families who make less than $58,000 per year.

Our tax center here at East Aldine is open for Neighbors every day.

BakerRipley’s Utility Assistance Program is designed to meet your immediate needs by providing financial support for your utilities. We are currently only accepting applications for water bill payment assistance.

Utility Assistance is offered onsite on Tuesdays from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

The East Aldine Community Center offers a wide variety of classes for children and adults. Subjects have included Taekwondo, Folkloric Dance, Cake Decorating, Zumba, Guitar, Healthy Cooking, Watercolor and more!

The Fall 2023 semester runs from September 5 through December 9. Membership is required and space is limited. Contact us to learn more or to register for upcoming sessions. 

Fab Lab

About Houston’s Fab Lab

Located within BakerRipley’s East Aldine Campus and open onsite every day, Fab Lab Houston is one of only 10 Fab Labs in the United States. The 5,000 square foot facility opened in June 2018 thanks to the generous support of Chevron and the Fab Foundation.

Designed to cultivate a community of makers in Houston, Fab Lab Houston provides resources and opportunities for collaboration, entrepreneurship, STEM/STEAM education, and professional development. It’s a maker space for youth and adults to engage in creative pursuits and hands-on learning opportunities.

Fab Lab Membership

Fab Lab membership is separate from the East Aldine Community Center membership, and includes access to the Fab Lab during all open hours, feedback from expert mentors, early sign-up access for workshops, and discounts on additional services and resources.

  • Non-Residents – $50 / month

Community Center Memberships

BakerRipley Community Centers offer family and individual memberships. Membership provides access to a wide variety of classes and experiences.

Facility Rentals

The BakerRipley campuses offer numerous spaces available for rent, including a large gym/reunion hall, small and medium classrooms, and outdoor space at Alexander Park.

Free parking, tables, chairs, and guest wifi are included with your rental and members of BakerRipley Community Centers receive a discount when renting any of our facilities. To check available space, dates, and pricing for your gathering, please contact rentals@bakerripley.org
