This year, we are thrilled to honor The Baker Family at The BakerRipley Experience.
More than 100 years ago Captain James A. Baker and his wife, Alice Graham Baker, began a legacy of service that would influence Houston for generations to come. Capt. Baker headed the region’s premier law firm, led Houston’s banking industry, and championed the vision of his late client, William Marsh Rice, by ensuring that Rice University was built and sustained.
Around the same time, Alice Graham Baker learned that immigrant families in Houston’s Second Ward faced crowded, unhealthy living conditions. She inspired and led twelve influential, civic-minded Houston women to form the Houston Settlement Association, which later became BakerRipley.

The BakerRipley Experience will be a night of community and connection; a night to experience together the stories of what is possible when generosity meets potential and creates something brand new.
You will hear from Neighbors who seized an opportunity from BakerRipley and used it to transform their lives, families, and their communities. Together, we will immerse ourselves in the powerful stories of our origin and remember anew that when people have what they need to thrive, anything is possible.
