“The City of Houston congratulates and commends the East End Learning Center and its grand opening and extends best wishes for continued success.”

Bridging the Digital Divide

The East End Learning Center is the second initiative of its kind, following the Verizon Community Forward Gulfton Sharpstown Learning Center, launched in 2022. Both centers are pivotal in Verizon’s mission, in partnership with BakerRipley, to bridge the digital divide. They offer an array of free learning programs and services catering to the diverse needs of youth, adult learners, teachers, entrepreneurs, and community members.

A Commitment to Future-Ready Education

As part of Citizen Verizon, the company’s responsible business plan for economic, environmental, and social advancement, the East End Learning Center is a critical component in achieving the ambitious goals of providing digital skills training to 10 million youths and preparing half a million individuals for the jobs of the future.

Expanding Educational Horizons

The center boasts an impressive suite of learning experiences, including laser cutting, engraving, 3D printing, photography, podcasting, and audio/video recording and editing. It also offers programming in coding, robotics, content creation, and an exploration of the engineering design process. Notably, the introduction of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences promises to further expand the educational horizons of participants.

Investing in the Community's Future

The Verizon Community Forward East End Learning Center stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in creating opportunities and enhancing the educational landscape of communities. It is a forward-thinking investment in the future, ensuring that the East End community and beyond have access to the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
